The ESS E39 M5 VT1-550 supercharger system delivers unparalleled acceleration and everyday driveability matched with the reliability customers have come to expect from ESS. Countless hours of development and testing have resulted in a supercharger system that produces 550 horsepower and 620NM of torque with the smoothnes and drivability of a stock car. Component quality matches or exceeds BMW OEM specification throughout the kit.

The system is based upon Vortech's efficient and reliable gear driven and self contained V3 supercharger, featuring helical cut gears for quiet operation. The redesigned ESS MSS52 engine control software is perfectly calibrated for the supercharged engine providing optimum ignition timing under all conditions, recalibrated EGas for quicker throttle response, recalibrated VANOS control and perfectly optimized fuel delivery supplied by 8 larger Bosch injection valves ensures that the engine is operating ideally under all conditions.

The system maintains all OBD-II functions, ans it is backed by a comprehensive 2 year, unlimited mileage warranty. The system installs in 8-10 hours using normal hand tools and no irreversible modifications to the car is necessary.

*The ESS E-Flash OBD2 cable option allows the end user to upload the supercharger ECU software directly to the car from any PC running Windows XP or newer. The system also includes full diagnostic and code clearing capability. Any future ESS software updates can be received by email and loaded directly to the car. The stock ECU software will be saved and can easily be restored in the future.

I have the first production kit on my 2003 E39 M5.
I had it installed a little over 1 year ago today.

The kit has has performed even better than described. Components and software have been absolutely bulletproof!

This kit COMPLETELY transformed my M5...sent it into near supercar status, while maintaining the everyday driveablity that I require in my daily driver.

Power is very predictable...pulls like a freight train, with no surprises. Just keeps on pulling and pulling and pulling....triple digit speeds before you know it.

I can't say enough about the team at ESS...engineering, tuning and support have been fantastic.

First impressions of the kit were great, the power provided was definitely linear, no coughs, idle issues, or anything "abnormal". Drove the car daily and couldn't even tell I had made any changes unless the limits were being tested, which ended up being a lot since it was hard not to keep the car at WOT every chance I had.

As far as install and support went, it was phenomenal, easy to install, and support was there literally 24/7 when needed through text messages, cell phone, or email. Only issue/complaint was a few extremely minor details which as far as I’m told have been corrected. A hard copy of the manual would not have hurt, and creating a manual in the form of "TIS" may have made install easier which, in my opinion, could help the average individual be capable of install with no prior knowledge.

Other than that the kits bulletproof, great product, guys who know what they're doing, and a corporation that will stand behind its product. I would highly recommend any application offered from ESS Tuning.
